Determine Signal is Linear or Non-Linear
In these video, I have explained how to determine a given signal in linear or non-linear. A system that multiplies the input signal by a constant, is linear. This system is an amplifier or an attenuator, depending on if the constant is greater or less than one, respectively. In contrast, multiplying a signal by another signal is nonlinear. For the signal to be linear it must satisfy the superposition condition that you will learn in this video how to check that the given signal satisfies the superposition condition or not. The system is said to be linear if it satisfies these two conditions: Superposition – if input applied is (x1+x2), then the output obtained will be y1+y2. (equivalently we say that if x1 and x2 are applied simultaneously then the output will be the sum of the outputs obtained individually).
